If your name is next in the holiday rotation, or you find yourself the lucky winner of the prize draw in this year’s “Who will host Thanksgiving” raffle among your family or friends, fear not! The Sip is your go-to site for helpful little hosting tips!
This holiday, many local grocery stores cleverly offer a prepared Thanksgiving dinner meal deal. This is a tremendous time saver, plus relieves the stress of botching high profile dishes like the turkey. Honestly, I took major advantage of this deal and actually picked up most of the main dishes and sides versus creating them in my kitchen. This left ample time to focus on the hosting aspects I enjoy the most: the tablescape, desserts, and of course – cocktails! Deciding to pass on the pressure of making multiple dishes allows room for the fun details. A few of my personal favorites that I have found are butter and even chocolates in the shape of a turkey, a variety of unique ways to play the traditional “Gratitude Game” where each guest reveals what they are thankful for.
For the menu this year, we agreed on a classic, simple yet southern theme featuring the traditional delicious, comforting dishes. As is customary in our crew, we also created a few boozy additions to round out the menu. Stay tuned to The Sip for a trio of autumn-inspired recipes that are sure to make the “Thankful For” list.
