French Toast Sticks with Boozy Caramel Dipping Sauce

Salted Caramel

When it comes to taming messy foods at a tailgate, think outside the plate. Stack a few sweet

sticks of french toast together in a plastic wine glass. Place boozy caramel dipping sauce where it is readily available to pour over the french toast. Prepare for your tailgate team to request the recipe from Love and Olive Oil for the Jackson Morgan caramel sauce. You can copy this link and have it ready to share in your Game Day group text: https://www.loveandoliveoil.com/2015/06/boozy-salted-caramel-french-toast.html

Ingredients:

Package of Store Bought French Toast Sticks

Caramel Sauce

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon corn syrup

1/4 cup water

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into cubes

pinch fine sea salt

1/4 cup Jackson Morgan Southern Cream in Salted Caramel

Directions:

Bake the french toast sticks according to the directions on the package. Then add a few to a plastic wine glass.

To make the boozy caramel sauce, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat.. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally just until sugar is dissolved. Once caramel sauce starts to boil,  cover pan with a lid for 2-3 minutes.

Remove lid and let the sauce bubble, without stirring, until sugar turns a caramel color. If your

sugar is browning unevenly, swirl it a bit to help redistribute, but whatever you do, don’t

stir. Once the sugar is approximately the color of light beer, remove from heat.

Immediately pour in heavy cream, whisking until smooth. Add butter and salt and continue whisking until melted and incorporated. Stir in Jackson Morgan Southern Cream. Transfer to a heat-proof container and let cool until ready to use.

When ready to serve, pour the boozy caramel sauce over the French toast sticks for easy snacking on game day.
