It is almost officially summer! To celebrate, I hosted a start of summer porch party. Porch parties are such a southern tradition. I love the causal vibe of a summer party.
Menu
I wanted to keep it simple with just a few sips and snacks for guests. I could not think of anything more appropriate for the start of summer than salad in a jar, lobster rolls, cole slaw, corn, black cherries, and watermelon. To make the salad in a jar, simply place favorite salad ingredients in a mason jar, add twine and tie a fun plastic fork to the jar.
Drinks
We served several Jackson Morgan cocktails including whipped orange and peaches and cream. Old fashioned glass sodas were in the ice bucket on the ground. I also had lemon water in my fun pineapple drink dispenser.
Decor
I wanted the gathering to feel causal, but yet still be festive. I hung outdoor curtains for privacy and planted window boxes to add a touch of color. I also hung outdoor party lights for lighting after the sun went down. We served food on melamine plates and platters, so we did not have to worry about the plates breaking outside.
