Every great gathering needs a spot where guests can wander over, refresh their drinks, and catch up while the last dishes come out of the kitchen. This year, we set up a little bar corner just steps from the Thanksgiving table. It keeps the drinks flowing, frees up the host, and gives everyone a cozy place to mingle.
Set the Mood
Start with light. Battery candles are the secret here: they give off the same warm glow as the real thing, but you never have to worry about a stray sleeve or a gust of wind.
For an unexpected touch, we draped velvet ribbon paper chains around the bar. They feel nostalgic and a little whimsical, and the rich velvet adds a luxe texture that ties right back to the colors on the table. Choose ribbon in deep reds, rust, and olive green for a harvest look.
Stock the Essentials
Do not forget the ice! A big bucket or a vintage ice tub keeps everything chilled and within reach. Next to it, set out a few of your favorite flavors of Jackson Morgan Southern Cream so guests can pour their own or mix up a cocktail.
Add a small tray of drink garnishes to make every pour feel special. A few of our favorites:
- Cinnamon sticks
- Cherries
- Orange twists
- Crushed graham crackers or caramel drizzle for rims
- Fresh nutmeg and a little grater
Something to Snack On
Guests always get a little hungry while waiting on the mains, so keep a few bar snacks within reach. Spiced pecans, kettle corn, and pretzels in small bowls are easy to grab and easy to refill.
Finish with a mini cheese tray. Add in your crowd’s favorite cheeses and a few seasonal touches like candied pecans. It holds everyone over without spoiling their appetite for the feast.
Pour, Mingle, Repeat
A well-stocked bar corner lets the host relax and lets guests make themselves at home. Set it up early, light the candles, and let the conversation flow along with the drinks.
