Color Scheme
For this party, I wanted a casual red, white, and navy color scheme. My mom gifted us this antique tobacco basket from a popular antique store in my hometown, Fayetteville, Tennessee. This basket is the perfect spot to hang a festive flag garland for summer parties.
Menu
In the summer, I tend to drift towards simple meals when hosting. I called my friends at Martin’s Bbq, one of my beloved spots for bbq in Nashville, for catering. Martin’s tasty ribs, potato salad, slaw, baked beans, and cornbread cakes were the main items I served for this gathering. I added watermelon on a popsicle stick, fruit, and sweet tea. I used a small star cookie cutter to cut the honeydew melon to keep with the star theme. I served a boozy strawberry banana icebox cake (recipe coming soon) for dessert along with a few assorted cookies and popsicles.
Tablescape
For the table, I incorporated a navy star table throw (linked below). Galvanized chargers paired with striped dinner plates and flag appetizer plates, coordinated with the red flatware perfectly. Mason jars seemed like the ideal drinkware choice, especially with a red stripe paper straw. I found a matching navy star napkin to complete the tablescape. I served the food in galvanized and red enamelware dishes, which are shatterproof and excellent for easy summer hosting. White hydrangeas are my go to flower arrangement year round, for this party, I added burlap flags.
